Yowza, we have a logjam of potential starting pitchers next year:

Paul Abbott
Jeremy Affeldt
Brian Anderson
Kevin Appier
Miguel Asencio
Jimmy Gobble
Zach Greinke
Darrell May
Kyle Snyder
Jamey Wright

Who do you want as the starting 5, or who do you think will be the starting
5? Ah, the perfect opportunity to show off my total inability to predict the
future. I'd like to see:

May
Anderson
Gobble
Greinke
Asencio

But there are so many guys I like who'd be left out (Appier, Snyder, even
Wright). What do you guys think?

I agree with these picks, but I have to say I'd like to see Wright and Snyder
in there too, assuming Kyle gets well.

Doh! I knew I'd forget somebody! I copied the names from Sportsline,
thinking that way I wouldn't miss anybody (though I had to remember Greinke
on my own).

Given that, (playing GM), I'd try to sign Lima or Anderson, and stick that
guy in the rotation. I would probably not sign both, unless we could somehow
get them both fairly cheap. I would lean toward keeping Lima.

I didn't pick Affeldt for the rotation, because I believe he's a much better
pitcher out of the bullpen, even if he could get the blister problem under
control. As a starter, he would be pretty good, but as a long reliever, he
could be a superstar.

I heard Anderson is going right back to the Indians after this season.
