I am happy with our lineup...but we all know what it takes to win in baseball,
Pitching...so where is it? We need AT LEAST a closer and preferably another
starter as well. What's the deal with Livian Hernandez? Did we secure him?
If so our rot. would look like this, I assume?

Hernandez
Aramas
Ohka
Day
Vargas

Day and Vargas were awful in the second half. Who knows if they even have what
it takes to be major leauge starters. Ohka is a number 5 starter on a very
good staff and a 4 starter on a decent one. He def. shouldn't be our # 3
starter. We need another starting pitcher in a bad way. I hope they're
working on something. Also, as much of a gamer Rocky Biddle is, we all know he
is not a closer. I wouldn't mind having him in middle relief to go along with
Luis Ayala, but c'mon...we need a good closer. Anyone agree? Also would
appreciate if someone could let me know if we've secured Livian. Thanks.

I belive Livan had a player option that kicked in if he pitched a certain
amount of innings last year. He met the quota and is now in the option year
of his contract, which I believe is about 6,5 million. I agree we need one
more experienced starter. El Duque is not signed yet and if we can convince
him to play with his brother and get him for cheap that would help. Also
what do you think of Greg Maddux? He is still not signed and would be a nice
fit on a young staff. I think that since he is not signed and getting at the
tail end of his career, maybe we could get him for less than we think. With
Omar Minaya you never say never. A rotation of Livan, El Duque, Armas,
Maddux and Ohka/Day/Vargas to go with our offense make the Expos a true
contender.

they let El Duque walk already without offering him arbitration, and I'm pretty
sure Maddux wouldn't play in Montreal. It's one of the teams that was in his
no trade clause. Plus, he's going to want 7 or 8 million.

El Duque could come back cheap after May 1, if Livan is still around. I
think Maddux is headed back to the Cubs.
