Former Angel Troy Percival returns as special assignment pitching
instructor

ANAHEIM -- The Angels Friday named longtime closer Troy Percival, who
spent 10 seasons with the Angels, as a Special Assignment Pitching
Instructor in an announcement by Director of Player Development Tony
Reagins. Percival will attend both Major and minor league Spring
Trainings and also travel to all Angels' affiliates to evaluate pitchers
in the club's farm system throughout the 2007 season.

"I'm looking forward to beginning the next chapter of my baseball
career, and assisting those in charge in any manner they need from me,"
said Percival. "The Angels have been an important part of my career and
life and I couldn't be happier to be part of the organization."

"We're pleased to have Troy back in the Angels' family," said Reagins.
"His baseball knowledge, experience and passion for the game will
greatly enhance our player development program."

Percival, 37, pitched for 11 seasons in the Major Leagues with the
Angels and Tigers, compiling a 30-41 record with 324 saves and a 3.10
ERA (611.2 IP-211 ER) in 605 games. His 324 career saves rank tied for
11th (Billy Wagner) on the Major League all-time list.

Percival, who was originally drafted by the Angels as a catcher in the
sixth round of the June 1990 draft, remains the club's all-time leader
in saves (316) and games pitched (579). He was on the mound for each of
the Angels' three series clinching victories of the 2002 Post-Season and
his seven saves (seven chances) during the 2002 playoffs tied a Major
League Post-Season record.

A native of Fontana, CA, Percival and his wife Michelle reside in
Riverside, CA with their children Cole and Avery.
