I guess Delgado isn't the only one showing his age. It looks like
Pedro's not fooling anyone with his curveballs and that means his
fastballs are very vulnerable. Pedro looks done.

I would agree except this isn't the first time this has happened to
Pedro since his return.

From the NY POST:

Martinez said Carlos Beltran examined him on tape and claimed the
righty is "tipping some of the pitches."

Time for the new pitching coach to go to work.

It would be great if that's all it was.

It looks to me like he's going through spring training right now, and
has to learn how to pitch again with his "new" arm. We'll never see the
old Pedro again, but I thought he might be able to get back to something
reasonably close to his 2005 form. Wishful thinking? Maybe, but I think
it's too soon to write him off just yet.

Beltran is the least of the Mets problem. Actually he should be
battling 3rd, and Wright 4th, to get more runners on base for David
who is the Mets best hitter:

Beltran Avg Obp Slg Ops
2008 .273 .374 .485 .858
Career .280 .356 .496 .851

Actually Wright has been more of a disappointment than Beltran, after
the great 2007 season he had (.325/.416/.546)

Wright Avg Obp Slg Ops
2008 .288 .382 .502 .883
Career .308 .387 .527 .914

Not bad numbers, but way below the expectations. The problem?

1) Church (.300/.365/.522) and Alou (.347/.389/.388) can't stay
healthy (in Moises case, it was obvious...he is what 70 years old?).
Mets LFers are hitting a putrid: .230/.287/.307/2HR/31rbi/309Ab) in a
position that is focus on offense.

2) Delgado is finished (.231/.310/.417) and should be hitting 7th.
Castillo (.253/.358/.325) who has no power (and can't run because of
his knees), should be hitting 8th. And both Delgado and Castillo
should bat lower because they can't get rid of them. Bring Carp, let
Easily play 2nd and plan for 2009.

Hopefully Church will actually stay healthy for the rest of the season
and continue to hit like he did early. But with the way the season has
gone, I wouldn't be surprise to see him regress. After all, we are
talking about the Mets here. Alou, I don't expect him at all
(although he could probably return for the Phillies series next week).

Geez, WebTV morons are alive and well. This is not about winning and
losing but about a player's being over-the-hill. Pedro has pitch a
few bad games in a roll now.

Can Beltran examine his own hitting on tape and see what's wrong?

Why assume all WebTV people are morons? The Great Carlin said if Albert
Einstein was driving and accidently left his turn signal on would people
pass him and mutter "What an idiot"?

Sorry, the Mets didn't give Beltran $15-20 million a year for him to
hit his career avg. That kind of money is for expected performance of
..320 hitting, 35+ HRs, and 120+ RBIs.

So Wright's numbers are BETTER than Beltran's but he's a
"disappointment", but since Beltran's numbers are "average" he gets a
pass. Doesn't make any sense.

Your just so god damn stupid. Your really are, and you talk like an
ignorant retard, not that there's anything wrong with that.
