Mike Piazza has retired. With such little fanfare, I almost missed it.
I hope the Dodgers do something special for him. I was shocked when
the Dodgers got rid of him. I am a Padre fan, but I never got used
seeing him in a Mets uniform. Even when he played for the Padres, I
always thought of him as a Dodger, despite his years with other teams.
I thought it was crazy for the Padres to sign him, but Piazza proved
me wrong. He did great here and was tremendous clubhouse influence.
When he goes into the Hall of Fame, I hope it is with a Dodger cap. Go
in with a Dodger cap out of respect for Tommy Lasorda and the O'Malley
family. An era of baseball we will never see again.

Well said. I too hope something special is planned. It would be shame for
Mike to just slip away.

Since it is the year of honoring decades, I'm sure the Dodgers will be ready
and willing to honor Mike Piazza.Outside of the 5 rookies of the year,
wasn't much to celebrate. I'll never forget the 12-1 thumping him and Kevin
Gross gave the Giants on the last game of the season in 1993 to give Atlanta
the division title.
