Today's Sun (page S9) reports that Hudson has 3.53 assists per nine
innings, the highest in the majors.

Is that stat meaningful, especially over part of one season?

Not really - it's in the same vein as a particular double-play combo having
the most double plays in the majors. It's likely far more representative of
your pitching staff's inability to strike out hitters.

Ouch. Hudson, Delgado, and Woodward are middle of the pack, thus
acceptable. Wilson/Myers are catchers so ZR isn't too valuable in
assessing defence (too few chances). Hinske was injured early on so
he has an excuse but is still at an unacceptable level. Wells is
amazing. No shockers other than how high Delgado is ranked (I saw him
as 25th or lower).
