cracks me up when people speak with such authority. I **know** this much;
Griffey won't be coming here unless Jim Leyland wants him here. Beyond that;
no clue.

well, it has not escpaed my notice that the vast majority of his DL time is
in the NL. He may wind up back in Seattle. Nonetheless, if it were up to me
(obviously it isn't) I'd be willing to offer him an incentive-laden
contract. Like I said, he's a better ballplayer, in every respect, than
Craig Monroe...

I just have to laugh at the thought that someone can call acquiring Ken
Griffey, Jr. "stupid." Not that I'm saying it **will** happen, but . . .

Acquiring him for what it WOULD cost would be stupid. And when he gets
hurt it would be a waste. Better to save some of that money to use in
addition to insure you sign Porcello, which isn't expected to be easy.
If we happen to win the WS this year I don't wan't 2008 to turn into a
fire sale like what happened to the Marlins a few years ago. We have
alot of veterans on this team and it's bound to bite us in the azz down
the road.

well, obviously I have a lot more respect for Ken Griffey, Jr., the Hall of
Fame ballplayer, than you do. I think your "fire sale" comment borders on
delusional, because this franchise is owned by Mr. Ilitch, and we already
know how he operates. Be that as it may, we're already beating a dead horse
here.

I wonder if Junior regrets ever having left Seattle. In any case, I'd almost
bet he will be back in the AL, and that people are going to be surprised at
how much he has left.
