This is frustrating. I'm not blaming Stoneman for this, I'm sure he's
really trying, but Ramirez stayed with the Cubs and now they are making a
ridiculously high priced signing of Soriano! Can't get a break!

I'm happy with the picking up of Speier and I hope Butcher does as well as
Black did as the new pitching coach.

Here's to something in the offensive category sometime soon!

Go Stoneman Go!

Nathan

How COULD you blame Stoneman for this; Ramirez re-signed with the Cubs
before anybody else was allowed to talk money with him.

There's nobody left who's really worth getting excited over. Drew has
the talent but he refuses to play if he's not 100% and what player is
ever 100% after the season starts.

Hmmm...Did you miss the part where I said "I'm not blaming Stoneman for
this"? That was more just a clarifying statement to let others know I
wasn't doing my normal Stoneman bashing.

I wouldn't want Drew in a million years. He's a whining little cry baby.
That's why he belonged with the rest of the Dodgers. Heaven forbid he get a
hangnail and is out for a month on the DL.

Hey Nathan,

Are you back from Japan? Hope you enjoyed your trip. I see that you are
paying close attention to the FA market this season. Stoneman has stated
that he and Arte have scripted multiple scenarios, so there are still
options available. Soriano should hit a ton in Chicago. Anaheim is a
pitchers park. The right field wall is imposing to hitters who use the
entire field. Look at GA's stats over the years. He hits more homeruns on
the road than he does in Anaheim.

I hope they don't go after Drew either. He's bats left handed, so he's not a
good fit in Anaheim either.

utter stupidity. I hope he breaks both his legs and spreads AIDS to all
of Moreno's and Stoneman's children....do any of you Angel fans wanna
buy front row seats to Lennon & Hendrix on New Year's Eve at Wrigley

Now we are reportedly on the verge of signing Matthews to a $10m/year deal?
Ugh....

I would so much rather see the Vernon Wells deal go down, but then you gotta
sign him.

So where does he (Manny Ramirez) go? The Angels, who showed considerable
interest in Ramírez last winter, would appear to have positioned themselves
for a possible trade by signing free agent setup man Justin Speier, freeing
setup man Scot Shields in a possible package deal that also could include a
starting pitcher, Ervin Santana, or a top prospect such as Brandon Wood.

But one National League executive said that when his club asked about
Shields, the response was that the Angels were keeping Shields and signing
him to a long-term deal.

Still another executive said the Angels are more focused on signing a center
fielder, Gary Mathews, for a reported $55 million over five years. The
Angels, who have a greater need for a center fielder than a corner
outfielder, also have coveted Toronto outfielder Vernon Wells, who is
eligible for free agency after the 2007 season.

I would hate to see Brandon Wood traded for Manny Ramirez. I think Shields
is a keeper too. Middle relief was a weakness last year. Mathews foe $55
million is outrageous but so is the money being thrown around so I'd rather
have Mathews in CF than Ramirez in LF or DH.

First I'd like to say. Where has the value and interest in our minor league
system gone? I personally think that everyone lost interest after they came
up and struggled, while teams like the Dodgers had minor leaguers come up
and succeed. I think Stoneman shot himself in the foot on that one when
they were worth a whole lot more last year.

Now all other teams want are Shields and Santana...They can all dream on.
That would definitely be a dumb move. We need to keep Shields around and
with the addition of Speier our bullpen may actually be back to normal
strength again. We also need Santana as Saunders hasn't proven that he can
pitch two good games in a row and Colon is done. Wood is still developing
and we really don't know what he can do, but I would be ok parting with him.

Offense please....any day now....please!

I am back...I actually went to Singapore, Japan, Brazil and the UK and just
got back in time for Thanksgiving. I hope everyone had a great one and
didn't choke when they read about the signing of Matthews Smile I wasn't too
happy with or understood that one....but who am I? I agree with you that
there are many more scenarios and lets hope they still have something more
in mind since our offense is still missing. I never took into consideration
the stats at Anaheim. Good point!

Well looks like we don't have to worry about Drew...but things still don't
look any brighter on the offense end without damaging another part of our
team.

Offense...Offense...Offense (Maybe it'll work like saying Beetlejuice...you
never know)
