Dead Mr. Randy Johnson,
You are a coward. You DEMAND to go to the New York Yankees because that is
the easiest route to the world series. You say you have nothing to prove,
and your right, you are already wearing a ring and are goinbg to the HOF.

So if you have nothing to prove why do you need to go to The Yankees just
for another ring? If I was in your position I would want to go to a team
with a chance but an under dog. Just think if you brought a team like the
Twin or Red Sox to the world series, I should throw the cubs in there as
well. You would be remember as a man who went to a struggling team and
single handedly picked the team up and carried them to a championship.

You, just like A-Rod dont realize that even if you win with The Yankees, ITS
NO BIG DEAL. This years Yankees team will be remembered as a bunch of
all-stars that were stacked on a single roster and walked away with a
championship. If A-Rod won in Texas, he would forever be remembered as a
true champion. Now, when he puts on that NYY world series ring, he is just
doing what everyone expected a $180 million dollar All-Star team to do.

Go to NY, get your ring. It will mean absolutely NOTHING.

Say, you're not a bitter Red Sox fan, are you?

As much as I'd personally detest seeing Randy in Yankee pinstripes, and as
completely bereft of desirable talent as the Yankees' farm system is
reputed to be, and even though I'd much prefer he be dealt to a team like
the Red Sox or the Angels, I have to face facts: Randy's *earned* the
right to decide where he plays next. He badly wants to win another World
Series ring. If he thinks the Yankees are the best team to get him one,
that's his prerogative. I don't necessarily agree, but that's just me.

You and I are in full agreement.

By the way, in light of recent reports that Johnson's agent has pretty
much delivered an ultimatum to Joe, Jr. to trade Randy to the Yankees or
face the consequences, I have to say this:

Randy, you've earned the right to ask for a trade, and you've earned the
right to spell out your preference. You've even earned the right to
specify a short list of teams to which you'll accept a trade, even if that
short list contains only one name.

What you haven't earned is the right to blackmail the team into trading
you to that one team if that one team doesn't have a credible value to
offer in trade for you.

Randy, you have to accept the possibility that another team with a
legimitate shot to win the World Series may be the only team that can
offer the D-Backs sufficient trade value for you. Hell, the Yankees are
no lock to win it all this year. In case you've forgotten, you've won a
World Series ring more recently than Joe Torre & Co.

The Dbacks and Dodgers apparently had a deal worked out, and Johnson
turned it down.

So the choice is between the Yankees B prospects, or keeping a
disgruntled Unit.
