Tonite, before the Giants have to fly from Cleveland to Oakland to play the
A's they have a 7pm game in Cleveland. This is the second time a scheduling
situation such as this has occurred. Usually, in the past, home teams would
schedule a day game for the last game of the series, particularly if the
visiting team was flying > 3 hours or so to get to their next destination.
I'm not sure if this is a league rule, or simply a league 'suggestion', and
it's up to the teams to honor it out of courtesy. Does anyone know of MLB's
position on this, or even if they have one?
Perhaps since the Giants are flying east --> west where the clocks will be 3
hours behind that may be a factor in not enforcing this, or in how this is
applied, if there is a rule.
Heh, this team needs all the stars to be aligned and everything just right
to win so it's sort of a drag to see them essentially 'concede' the first
game of the next series when they have so little time for travel in between
games.

And, of course, there is a rain delay.
I am surprized that it wasn't a day game, too.
Of course, the Indians play at home tomorrow against the Reds.

jossy

Whining and bad calls, now Wayne knows those things.......lol.
I've seen the Dodgers and Giants do it to each other all the time, but
I can't remember it ever happening with any other teams we play,
especially cross country......hmmmmm. >> Stay informed about: Night games on 'getaway' days |
