He was running towards the outfield trying to get to the ball, and it
deflected off his glove when he reached up. He turned and got the ball
quickly, but made his throw while his momentum was still towards the
outfield. There was nothing on the throw and it was a 4-hopper. A bit
offline too. Some players (Greene, Loretta) can make a strong accurate throw
when their momentum is away from the target, but in usually involves jumping
in the air and ol' Phil just ain't that athletic anymore. >> Stay informed about: Nice throw, Phil |

Looked to me like he had caught the ball back in the palm of his throwing
hand and all his fingers were gripping it. It "hung up" on his fingers and
was thrown downward very weakly. Poor release.
He appears to be struggling, is tense and not fluid. Bad for a guy who is
kind of awkward and tense anyway ............. Phil is not having fun. Are
we?

Then you don't know how to score correctly. A throwing error can only be
charged if it advances a runner. >> Stay informed about: Nice throw, Phil |

What do you call a guy going from second to home on a soft popup to
first?!?! That was one bag until dumbass threw it away >> Stay informed about: Nice throw, Phil |

I call it an RBI single. You can't argue that the throw advanced the runner
when he was already two-thirds of the way home, and you can't assume a
non-force out when charging a throwing error.

He didn't throw it away, he threw it late and weak. >> Stay informed about: Nice throw, Phil |

I`m not a fan of Phil Nevin. I `ve tried to stop my automatic response
when he does something horrendous, like that miserable swipe and
pathetic throw to the plate. Not to mention his attitude. He so far
looks like it is just too much a bother to pick up his glove and measly
paycheck of 55 Thousand a game.
Sorry. I tried almost half way thru April too.
