1. Downtown St Pete Waterfront,
2. Pinellas County near Howard Franklin
3. Tampa - near Raymond James
4. Downtown Tampa
5. Tampa near I-4

My vote is Tampa at 75 and I-4 - that way the team could draw fans from
Orlando, Lakeland, Tampa, Pasco, Sarasota, in addition to existing St Pete,
Bradenton Clearwater fan base.

None of the above are acceptable locations. Especially #1 amd #3.

How about Portland Oregon, Austin Texas, or maybe Memphis Tenn.?

I think Portland is a potentially good choice. Memphis also. I think
Texans are undeserving of the two franchises they already have. Of course
if you relocate to Portland some realignment is neccesary. Or is it? The
AL East and West would switch the number of teams.

I think a good location would be adjacent to Ybor City (which might be
the same as what you suggest by Tampa near I-4). As I recall, there's
some run down property to the east of Ybor City that could possibly be
used to build a stadium with a Cuban-American flavor, and fans could
walk to and from restaurants and nightclubs. One of the things I hate
about the Trop (and a lot of other stadiums) is that it is an isolated
island in the middle of a huge parking lot.

Oh great, place a stadium in a part of town where the roads are
pathetic enough for local traffic. Now add extra traffic for a
baseball game so about five thousand drunks can go and continued to
get further bombed after another misserable loss.

It's a moot question now that the Rays have announced their plans for
a new stadium on the St. Pete waterfront. But why only 34,000 seats?
That would make it one of the smallest capacity stadiums in the
majors, even smaller than Fenway Park. They might not need the
additional capacity right now, but once they become competitive,
they'll fill up the seats pretty quickly.

Parking and traffic could be a major factor. That area again has no
potential for expanding roadways to handle additional traffic during
game day. Besides it is about 9700 seats less than what the Trop now
has. Also the real money for owners is not in game day tickets. The
real revenue stream is in radio and television. Also in merchandising.
That is why they changed the logo and uniform colors.
