He did write a book, but it wasn't in the "Idiot's" series. The title is
(I kid you not) "Tim McCarver's Baseball for Brain Surgeons and Other
Fans".

Why is this title inherently mockable? It was a joke on the "Idiot's"
series, which was getting way too prevalent at the time.

Thanks to everyone's response to my original posting. I have enjoyed
reading them all. The Youth Baseball Rules were a very good intro. Now
I have to try and understand the commentators!

Someone from England mentioned Baseball on Channel 5, when do they
show this? Telewest are going to start charging £10/month for NASN, so
I won't be doing that!

I think I'll read about all the teams next and then decide who I'll
support. But it definately won't be the Yankees.

Which is sometimes the best reason to pick against them; hence my being
a White Sox fan (father-in-law and wife are Cubs fans). Schadenfreude
can be a wonderful thing, but do remember that it cuts both ways.

They do actually follow slighly different rules, like the DH, which gives
some reason to treat them as actually different leagues.

The joke is that there are a lot of dummies in this ng who should
read it. Of course Morgan talks about baseball, not statball, so
perhaps you all wouldn't be interested.

The distinction of how to treat the AL and the NL is philosophical.
But consider this: if the AL ever drops the DH rule (or the NL adopts
it) what organization will it be making the decision? Will it be a
vote by the AL (or the NL) team owners working with the league
president? Or will it be the MLB owners in conjunction with the
Commissioner of Baseball?

If you were ENTP I'd say Oakland. Green eliminates pretty much
everybody else except maybe Detroit, and Detroit's Beatle is Pete Best
- gone long ago and nobody really cares... If you can stretch it to
teal, maybe Florida, although they're not really extroverted.
Arizona?

Seattle Mariners. The whole front office is quiet and not effacing (I
live here and I have trouble remembering the makeup of the ownership
group). The GM is not noted as a deep thinker, and doesn't seem to
have a long-term plan, preferring to evaluate each situation as it
comes up. The manager is conservative and not often given to trying
to overmanage. Their talent is undeniable, but they never seem to get
the most out of it, and every season they die sooner than they should.
They wear blue.
