The first Seinfeld episode with Keith Hernandez is very good, but is
marred by factual inaccuracies. When Neuman explains why he and
Kramer hate Keith Hernandez, they describe a game:
Date: June 14, 1987.
Opponent: Phillies (apparently at New York).
Outcome: Mets lose.
Other details: Hernandez makes crucial error to cause the loss for the
Mets.
In reality, the Mets played in Pittsburgh on that date, the Mets won,
and Keith Hernandez had a fine game, hitting a home run and a double.
No Met made an error.
Too bad the Seinfeld people didn't research Mets games from 1987 to
find a home game the Mets actually lost because of an error by
Hernandez. Historical accuracy would have made the episode a lot
better.
A game fitting the description _did_ occur on September 7, 1987. Mets
lose at home to Philly and Hernandez made an error in the game (though
the Phillies didn't score in the inning in which Hernandez made the
error).
>> Stay informed about: Neuman was dead wrong about the Keith Hernandez "spitting"..
