Ugh... could this have gone any worse? Unbelievable... only now, a month
after the season is over, does the UCL finally tear completely, during
rehab. Ironically he hurt it, but not badly enough, way back in May.
Now it's Tommy John time...

I am sure I was not alone in fearing all along that this might
happen. This is pretty bad news, maybe especially from the point of
view that it might cost us a power-hitting 3B. I think bullpen help
just rose to the top of Mr. Smith's wish list. I don't know, though.
I could live with Buscher at third, and maybe Mijares could be a late-
innings guy. But he is virtually unknown. Ten-and-a-third innings
pitched is a lot like zero innings pitched, imo.

In all, I think my biggest worry for 2009 had to do with the bullpen,
rather than with 3B, so now that is even more the case.

Yep. The Twins need a guy that can pitch the 8th inning. I'm kind of
concerned with this talk of acquiring Garret Atkins or Casey Blake to
play third. I see nothing wrong with a platoon of Buscher/Harris at
third base. It's probably better than either of those guys by
themselves and it's definitely cheaper.

Agreed. The Twins should be focusing their acquisitions on bolstering
the pitching staff this off season, IMO.

I like Casey Blake, but I'm not sure he would be much of an impact
player for the Twins.
