Neshek plans to be throwing off a mound this month. I don't know
where I got the idea that he had had Tommy John surgery, but I was
wrong in that.

In case you don't have time to read the whole article, here's an
interesting quote:
<<Neshek's rehabilitation program will keep him at the Twins' training
facility in Fort Myers, Fla., until Nov. 14. He has been playing catch
since Aug. 4, and currently the pitcher's daily routine has him making
a total of 50 throws at various distances -- 10 at each mark starting
at 60 feet, and increasing up to 150 feet. Once he makes his return to
the mound in the coming week, Neshek said that he's scheduled to throw
bullpen sessions every few days until the end of his rehab.>>
Have you ever "played catch" at 150 feet? When you consider that such
an activity is considered to be taking it easy, it gives you an idea
about how hard "real" pitching is on the body. It's amazing they
aren't all having surgery.
