Ned Yost's contract has been extended with options into 2009.
Then he better do a better job this year, learn from last year's mistakes!
I still think we should have gotten Joe Torri! We would definately have made
it to the World Series this year with no questions ask!

You mean, just like the Yankees did last year?

Sorry for being critical towards Ned Yost....he has a new stragedy with
going with Turnbow in the 8th and Gagne in the 9th. About the samething he
had last year and it didn't always work. I don't see him improving much.
As for the NY Yankees they just didn't have that great enough team, so you
can't blame it all on Torre. Besides Torre is glad to get out of
Steinmiller's wing because he has been put under so much pressure. Yankees
rely mainly on experienced players not so much rookies. Most of their
experienced players are worn out, basically not as active like they once
were.

Well, I'm a Reds fan myself, John, so criticize Ned Yost all you want,
it won't make any difference to me.
I'll leave it up to the Brewers fans who watch the team regularly to
debate whether or not Torre would have been an upgrade over Yost, but
you could dig up The Old Professor (Stengel) and not win the pennant
if you don't have the talent between the foul lines. That's mainly
what I meant to point out...Torre would not have brought with him any
guarantee of catching the Cubs.

I think you will be impressed by the Reds this year. They should have a
better team and man you guys got a great deal on Francisco Cordero to close
out games. He is hot. I expect the Reds will be able to handle the Brewers
with no trouble. You should have no problem beating the Brewers.
The Brewers will be lucky if they make it over .500 again this year. I see
signs that indicate they won't win the World Series this year. Though they
could make it to the World Series, but they won't win it according to
personal sources within our family.

Dave,
As always I am hoping I am wrong. I rather be wrong than right for saftey
sake. Don't expect the Brewers to win 21 of the first 31 games to start
like last year. I rather they start out like 16-15 and then improve
throught the summer and end up in 1st place for a playoff spot.

Last years start was almost as freaky as going 12-0. I just hope they
play consistently good baseball and let the rest take care of itself.
Having Gallardo go on the shelf sucks but shouldn't hurt too much
considering their depth.

Not sure why the worry? Its only a knee ligament. Heck of a lot better then
a torn ligament in his pitching arm....otherwise if that was the case and
surgery I would be worried about him being another Tom Murphy. If you
remember Tom Murphy who once was a hot pitcher but damaged a ligament in his
pitching arm he was never himself again. When Del Crandal then manager of
the Brewers would bring in Murphy in relief he would add a couple more
betters on base...he struggled. Yeah I am talking about this episode from
the mid 70s when Crandal was managing.
Anyway Gallardo is out for 4 weeks, that probably 2 weeks before regular
season starts so he should be able to pitch some games in exhibition before
regular season starts.

Any injury can mess up a player, make him compensate to avoid a repeat
of the injury changing his delivery possibly causing new problems, but
now I'm being glass half full

I almost hate to admit it but yes I do, but then I remember Jerry
McMertney, Danny Walton, et. al.

If Uncle Ned does one thing right with pitchers is limit their pitch
count when coming off an injury. Glass half full. I just needed
talking down from the ledge. >> Stay informed about: Ned Yost - Give Me a Break!!! |
