TWINS LAND YOUNG IN BLOCKBUSTER WITH RAYS

The Twins acquired Rookie of the Year runner-up Delmon
Young, infielder Brendan Harris and outfielder Jason Pridie
in a trade with the Rays on Wednesday. Minnesota parted with
pitchers Matt Garza and Eduardo Morlan and shortstop Jason
Bartlett in the deal.

Young, 22, was a unanimous selection to the 2007 Topps Major
League Rookie All-Star Team after batting .288 (186-for-645)
with 38 doubles, 13 home runs, 93 RBIs and 10 stolen bases as
he played in all 162 games for Tampa Bay.

Dang...I thought we were going to rid of Rincon.

They had to make a trade like this. They really botched the Hunter deal
and knowing full well they were not going to be able to sign him, they
could have possibly traded him for a couple of decent outfielders. Then
we could be talking about trading young pitching for a DH or 3rd
baseman....and even if we did not trade Santana, we would have a decent
starting lineup. As it stands right now we have needs at 3rd, 2nd
(Twins have their head in the sand with Casilla and Punto), and a DH.

It really is a shame that we had to trade a young pitching prospect to
partially replace what we already had. I don't really see this as an
upgrade to the 2007 team, since we now have one less young arm, but this
was a deal they had to make.

"Blockbuster" LOL!
Not one damn star and you call it a blockbuster trade.
With every post you make lately, you lose more and more credibility.
I am still laughing about when you suggested the Yankees might trade A-Roid
to the Twins.
LOL! That, more than anything else, proved you have no baseball knowledge.

Did anybody ever mention that your user name is quite apt? In case
you are looking for variety, other good ones would be Tedious, Sadly-
Predictable, and Juvenile. S. didn't choose the word *blockbuster*,
moron. This is a fact you would know if you had clicked on the link
he provided and noticed that the headline was not of his writing
(unless he is Kelly Thesier's alter ego, which seems very unlikely).

I would stack my baseball knowledge up against yours, any day.

I'm certainly no MLB expert, and there are others in this Twins group
who I would NOT test my knowledge against, but *you* I am not
worried about. Wink

All good choices for "LS" to consider. Wink

And the A-Rod pipe dream was just that. Unrealistic as it may be,
sometimes it's fun to play the "what if?" game.

Based on the emails to Kelly Thesier (no, definitely not my alter ego)
at MLB.COM speculating about the Twins possibly making a play
for A-Rod, I wasn't the only one with the dream. But realistically,
who the hell (besides the Yankees) would want to be saddled with
that ridiculous A-Rod contract?

Scott, the word "blockbuster" and "Rays" don't belong in the same
sentence. Unless you are saying, "The Rays bullpen blew a lead of
blockbuster proportions", or, "The Rays have a blockbuster of a deficit
in the American League East".
