All I know is that the NFL Washington team must change their name and
Cleveland must change their mascot. At least teams like the Braves or
Seminoles can claim that they're portraying a positive image, but the
previous examples are blatant racism.

I've never understood what the big deal is about Chief Wahoo. What's wrong
with a smiling American Indian?

Will Ole Miss have to change their mascot?

I remember when they the PC crowd started bitching about the Braves
name in the early 90's, that is was offensive to Native Americans, and
they interviewed a native American gentlemen who sells those foam
Braves tomahawks outside the Fulton County Stadium, and he said his
business would be ruined if the Braves changed their name to
the...(trying to find a completely inoffensive team name)...Trees, or
any other stupid name besides Braves.

The logo contains demeaning racial stereotypes: red skin, hook nose,
big buck teeth. Combine all that with the buffoonish grin to further
insult the culture, and you've got a classic racist caricature.

What? He couldn't sell little foam trees?

I'm sure you can find examples of things like that no matter what the
situation. Stepin Fetchit would have had not career had the civil rights
movement happened fifty years earlier.

This is the first time I've heard of a "hook nose" and buck teeth being
indicative of American Indians.

More importantly, when will the NCAA Ole Miss from postseason
play?

Cheers,
