Hi,

I'm new to this newsgroup but not new to baseball - been following the Blue
Jays since 1985 courtesy of AFN, Ch4, Screensport, Eurosport........you get
the picture.

I'm thinking of taking out a subscription with NASN via Sky digital - can
anyone comment on the quantity/quality of the baseball coverage ? Who
provides the live feeds (ESPN, etc ?) what is the frequency of babeball
games on the channel ?

any comments would be appreciated !

cheers,

Tony

Variable according to the feed (obviously). Apart from that I have
been impressed with the coverage. The only slightly annoying thing is
that if a game is scheduled to follow-on from another live sporting
event, and that event overruns, you envariably miss the opening
innings.

>provides the live feeds (ESPN, etc ?) what is the frequency of babeball

The live feeds vary, I can't figure out the system NASN employ, I
don't think there is a system, but I saw the following live feeds last
season:

YES: NYY pro-NYY commentary
NESN: BOS pro-boston commentary
FOX: Regional coverage with regional commentary
FOX: national? (not sure)
ESPN: Premium national impartial commentary
ESPN2: Small market local impartial commentary

Hi, I've been a Blue Jays fan since the start of the week ! [See
'Picking a Team' Post]
Not sure about NASN coverage. Do Ch4 and Eurosport still cover baseball?

It'd add a whole new dimension to players "shagging in the outfield"!

ho hum.....I noticed the misspelling before I posted but left it
in.............thanks to all who replied to my query, including Beavis &
Butthead....Smile))

I watched the NLDS from last year on Freeview last night, the coverage seem
to be pretty good, no back to the studio between innings for innane
comparisons to Premiership football teams (Ch5 coverage). I've seen
broadcasts from YES, NESN, and WGN on video from Pontel in the past, they
are biased (home team) commentaries but still good, especially when the home
team is getting beaten by the Blue Jays (I know, infrequently - but that'll
change...).

Anyway, thanks again,

Tony

No. Horsehide covers baseball, networks cover the game.

Hi tony, look at it this way, Channel 5 - 50 games MAX per year, one or two
playoff games, NASN, 250-300 games a year all the playoff games either Live
or Re-live (recorded but shown as live), and no boring gits, mumbling on
like the 2 on Channel five, well worth the subscription, I'm into my second
year with NASN now, someone wrote in to Channel 5 last year asking to see
the Rodger Clemens game where he won his record breaking wins, they didnt
show it, I watched it live on NASN, nuff said

Look at it THIS way:

Channel 5: non-subscription
NASN: 12 quid per month.

But they only mumble on during the ad breaks. On NASN you have
COMMERCIALS instead.

Ouch!!! Surprised)

You also get to see NHL during the close season which basically consists of
groups of men putting each other in hospital in between bouts of ice hockey.
Fantastic stuff!!

Hmmmm... I musta missed the ice hockey part.

I like the cooperativeness of ice hockey though, like when two guys
try to pound the dents out of each other's faces during a rough game.
The sport is very popular amongst dentists I hear. Smile
