| I think Ted Lilly should be moved down to the 5th spot in the rotation, and
Josh Towers should take his #3 spot. Towers has been great so far this
year, and Lilly has been looking bad, so why not make the move. Towers
never gets the respect he deserves.

You sorta have to keep the pitchers on their 4-days off rotation, makes it
hard to move a guy up a couple of game before their next start.... should be
able to make such a move over the All Star Break, but before/after that you
most likely have to ask someone to either pitch on a couple days' rest (not
advisable) or skip a start to fall in a new slow, but if you skip that
start, someone has to pick it up...
it's not that easy to re-arrange the pecking order when it comes to starters >> Stay informed about: Move Lilly Down and Move Towers Up |

Remove Lilly from the picture completely from the starting staff. Toss
walker into the starting pool. Lilly goes to long relief. (Or a stint in the
minors) >> Stay informed about: Move Lilly Down and Move Towers Up |

I think lefties are slotted in for strategic reasons as opposed to pitcher
quality. So, even if your lefty is your #5 starter, if you have three
righties who throw the same way at #1, 2, and 3, the lefty will be squeezed
in between two of them for variety.
Besides, it's the way Lou Whittaker put it when asked about the prestige of
batting leadoff: "After the first inning, everybody is leadoff batter."

So you are prepare to write off games just to keep Lilly in the line-up? If
left handers are so important, it is time to try a different one. What is
the worst that could happen? The new lefthander gives up big leads early,
making it difficult for the Jays to come back from behind. >> Stay informed about: Move Lilly Down and Move Towers Up |

Lilly's out of the rotation for now. He's going to go up against live
batters some time next week to see if they can work out the kinks in
his delivery. I'm happy with Downs in the rotation so long as he can
do something about that fastball.

No, I am not prepared to write games off just to keep Lily in the lineup.
Nothing about my post suggested that I was, either. I was talking theory.
Lily needs to go back to A-ball to rebuild himself as a pitcher.
