I know we needed a catcher, but God damn it! It breaks my heart to see Mark
Kotsay in an A's uniform. That guy was a perfect fit in Padres centerfield.

Kotsay is a great outfielder, but I just wonder if his back problems might
not haunt him the rest of his career.

Yea our outfield has the potential to be a defensive disaster. But Kotsay
does us no good on the DL.

I think "disaster" may be a bit harsh...

Giles in RF is an excellent defensive OF
Payton, while not in Kotsay's class, is pretty good.
Klesko is below average, but then LF is where a lot of "below average"
fielders wind up. His bat makes up for it... sorta...

We're not going to have the excellent defensive outfield we've had for the
past couple of years, but it's not going to be among the league's worst
either. I'd put them at about average, possibly slightly below average.

I agree - I don't think our outfield defense is as bad as Bochy is worried
it will be. Klesko will be Klesko, but Payton and Long in center is decent
and Giles will be a good right fielder.
