as long as he picks up where he left off last season, then we could
really use his on base percentage. that's a pretty good deal regarding
the money/contract.
i'm impressed that we picked up RP/Closer Baez. that guy had three
great years as a closer - 41 saves with Tampa Bay? Tampa won 67 games
that year....
i'm not impressed with signing Jaret Wright. until Baltimore can land
an ace pitcher (can you say Barry Zito???) and a third starter (i like
having Erik Bedard as our second SP in the rotation), we will finish in
either third or fourth place again next year. as far as batting, we
have enough hot bats to keep us alive in our division. we just lack
strong pitching at the begining of each series. Rodrigo Lopez is good,
but not great. He should be used in either 4th or 5th in the rotation.
and its pretty obvious that we need to give up hope on Daniel Cabrera.
i would make an effort to go after Miguel Batista or Shawn Estes. i
wouldn't mind seeing Greg Maddux come to Baltimore to reunite with Leo
Mazzone. i'm sure we are way out of the running to sign Jason Schmidt.

i think you took my words to be way too specific.
Davey did quit - but the point I was making is it was because of
Angelos. Angelos allowed the situation to get ugly and henceforth, he
allowed Davey to leave because he put him in a corner he wasn't
comfortable being in.
Angelos should have recognized the engery and strategy that Davey
Johnson provided to the Orioles with his managing style. It's obvious
since the Orioles haven't had a winning season since.
