As Derek Zumstag explained on http://www.ussmariner.com/ on 11/5, the M's
owe him the difference between what the Snakes are paying and what
the M's would have paid him for 2005. It's not likely that the Snakes
are paying him more than he would have made here.

Sounds like the Commissioner's office probably won't allow that;
AZ will have to pay him something reasonably close to average
or comparable to other managers.

hopefuly more than what they were going to pay Backman, though-- word in Az
is that Wally was getting a pittance....
