Magic number's 7 & 9

The Astros have a magic number of '7' for a tie...meaning any combination of
7 wins by themselves or 7 losses by the Cubs will assure a tie. The best
the Cubs can do is 91 wins (the Astros are 7 from that number).

The Cubs on the other hand have a magic number of '9' for them to realize a
tie.

It is best to think in those terms here on out. If (when) the Cubs catch
the Astros over the next 8 days those numbers will merge...

BTW: The magic number for the Cards to be eliminated is '3', if the Cards
win one more in this series it will be down to '1'. Also the Cards if the
Cards do lay down in this series (consciously or subconsciously or
otherwise) they are in danger of not finishing above .500. Now that would
be something, 'this one is for you Cardinal fans!'
