Glad someone here is seeing the glass half full. I cant say that it makes
any sense to me, trade the only late innings pitcher worth a flip for two
prospects so low on the radar that they dont even show up on top 50 prospect
lists for their old clubs.
Lumsden got his cup of coffee earlier this year...it was a still warm when
he got back to AA his appearance was a whopping 2/3 of an inning where he
gave up seven runs, three earned on five hits and a walk. Cortez is a
complete mystery, 7th round pick last year, decent strikouts with an average
era and not many wins. Was Macdougals contract up this year? Just trying
to make some sense of this. Ah well, just think in a year when they realize
they need a closer they can trade Butler or do something equally stupid to
get him back. >> Stay informed about: MacDougal Sent To White Sox |

After thinking about it for a day and finding out McDougal was due for
arbitration maybe this wasnt such a bad deal after all..
Todays trade on the other hand was absolutely fantastic...two prospects and
Odalis Perez for Elmer Dessens? Was LA deperate or what? Didnt we get
Elmer from LA last year to begin with? Why didnt they just keep him?

I'm telling ya... it's early yet, but I'm liking what Moore is doing
thus far.

you must not read the papers. Odalis pitched poorly and then whined about
being moved to the bullpen. He has an excuse for every bad outing and none
of them have anything to do with him. Still...he can be very good and I
think
a change of scenery and a starting role will turn him around, temporarily.
Just prepare yourself for the case of whine that came with him.

Yep, I agree Odalis is a whiny spoiled brat, but im looking at it from the
perspecive of the new GM, Atlanta has had a reputation of turning around
players like that, Sanders and Sheffield are the two that come to mind as
being very similar. Odalis claims he was treated badly in LA and didnt get
any love, but looking at what we have now..if he can pull of 14 or more wins
again, he will have all the love he can stand in this market. LA is a tough
market for attention whores, what is percieved as generally a pain the ass
there can be the hometown hero in a smaller market. Im willing to give him
that shot and see what happens. >> Stay informed about: MacDougal Sent To White Sox |

I completely agree...its very possible that a change of scenery, someone to
"bring back that loving feeling" will turn him around. He can be a very
good
pitcher. I just have issue with players who can't take responsibility for
their
performance. I couldn't be happier to see him go but if I were a fan of
another team I wouldn't be sorry to see him signed. I think this is going
to
be one of those win win trades.

I don't think he would have won arbitration considering how much of
his career so far has been spent on the DL >> Stay informed about: MacDougal Sent To White Sox |
