But the Tigers have shown no signs of life after the All Star break, and
they have two teams in front of them in the wc race. Last thing you want to
see right now is the best hitting team in the league coming to town on a
losing streak.

FWIW , I never blamed Binge alone. I didn't want
Monroe on the team either. Binge is a Binge hitter and Monroe hits
like a Marylin so it's not odd they have nicknames. What's odd is
your need to bring it up........like you're going to change usenet
or the thoughts and styles of its contributers.

INGE is
>not the problem. Problem is, you don't hae enough offensive production at

Binge is the problem. Mostly innefective as a clutch hitter,
unable or unwilling to adjust his batting style, a player
who strikes out alot and who has regressed since receiving
a new contract. Casey will go, but Binge MUST go.

Then again, we can't be sure that INGE isn't a better hitter than
>what we've seen. Sometimes there's a combination of player and hitting coach
>that connects (George Brett and Charlie Lau), and sometimes there's a
>combination of player and hitting coach that is detrimental to the hitter

Binge is what he IS. I suppose you would have given him an eight
year contract and blamed and fired Lloyd?

Wallbeck, Maybins manager in the minors said he can't learn much
more here and indeed he was showing signs of boredom, because
the competition was below his caliber (or words to that effect).
When the Tigers decide to give him some everyday playing time,
on a consistent basis with an opportunity to play his normal
position, I think his true abilities will be shown. But then
again, this is not a game anymore. It's the entertainment
business. so who knows what will happen with or to him?
Re Miller: Pitchers need more seasoning and he should develop
a third pitch, so another stint in the minors is appropriate.

Just to show you how this business has changed: While Sheffield
was on DL for a shoulder problem, he was spending his time on
golf courses around his home in Florida. Is that anyway to
nurse a shoulder?? Wish there were more investigative sports
reporters to call these guys out and report how these Teams
do business.

No. INGE is a #9 hitter. 8 at best. It's other positions where they lack the
offense. Either that. or you gove up on the guy completely.

But his "normal position" is center field. I'm sorry but, I do not ask a
hard working guy like Granderson to move oever for a rookie.

The Al Central is a tough division all games are dogfights, K.C. needs 2
or 3 more good players and they will be in the thickof it too.The Soxs

Well on My Team, 8 and 9 hitters are expected to contribute.
I guess you think he has contributed enough and I don't. He
does have very entertaining (there is that word again)
defensive abilities. I've completely given up on HIM though,
because production should trump entertainment.

IMO Granderson has three years seasoning and a comfortible
everyday position. These are intangibles that the KID doesn't
have. But the Kid will eventually have more power. He is
faster and supposedly has five tools which was never said
of Granderson. If Granderson is as mature as everyone says,
It should not be a problem for him to move, because he will
realize it can only make the Team better.(besides, we are
all getting ahead of ourselves, since it has been decided
to start the kid in the minors in 2008).

he DOES contribute. you balance the offense (over 60 RBI, ya know) and the
defense, and he's a contributor.
