Reds make roster move... add bullpen help
San Diego (AP) -- Continuing his quest to upgrade his beleaguered
bullpen, Reds GM announced this morning the addition of a batting tee to
the bullpen. The tee most recently had played for the Northern Kentucky
Little League.
"We feel the tee is sturdy, dependable and cheap," said Krivsky. It is
believed the teel will make the major league minimum. Compensation from
the Reds is said to include cherry Slushies and Big League Chew. "We
believe this aquisition gives us flexibility vs lefties and
righties......and if we put our tee really, really, low....we can
induce groundballs." Reds reliever Mike Stanton was overheard asking the
tee, "Hey, can you teach me to induce groundballs?"
Jerry Narron says the move will help his catchers as well, "David and
Javier don't have to worry about passed balls any longer." Narron
added........"Our reports indicate this batting tee is a baseball tee."
UPDATE: Reaction to the trade from a ML scout
"The Reds are getting damaged goods. I know for a fact that there is a
fault in the telescoping mechanism that causes it to collapse at
uncertain times. I have a very reliable associate with NKy Little League
who says that that tee, in 12 innings pitched, has a 10.56 ERA and 23
BB. 23!
I can't believe that Krivsky would make such a deal. I fully expect him
to file a grievance with NKy Little League sometime in the year 2029."

Our opponents could use it in "runners on first and second and less
than two out" situations. The pitchers will still foul out and Dunn
would still wiff. >> Stay informed about: Latest addition to the Bullpen |

What? No player (or maybe a pitching machine) to be named later?
Thought that was a staple in the majority of Krivsky deals.
