the whole division is struggling - especially the mega-million roster
of the tigers. just imagine the stress level in the front office there
- they've already cut jacques jones and swapped guillen and cabrera
around in the infield.
where is that poultre guy? let's look at the ERA of the tiger
starters:
verlander 6.43
bonderman 4.80
rogers 5.82
robertson 6.64
willis 7.20
and they're a combined 7-17. they're not even giving their bullpen a
chance to implode - yet - they're barely averaging 6 innings a start.

the indians are less than games out of 1st place. the pitching has
been decent - sabathia notwithstanding, but lee more than makes up for
that.
i guess i feel like the hitting will come around, and i'm actually
more concerned about borowski's injury - i remember what happened when
wickman got hurt. we're got more depth in terms of closer replacements
with betancourt and kobayashi but betancourt has yet to prove that he
can handle the emotional stress. i'd rather see kobayashi in there,
but i can understand why wedge has gone to betancourt.
