The throat slashing and cursing from the field seems a bit over the
top, even for someone of his prima dona tendencies. He's always been
petulant, but I don't remember him going "Danny Graves" on the field
before. Anyone think he may have staged it to try to spur them to
trade him ala Manny, or is that way too "x-file"?

I also read that he wanted to clear up some "non salary" issues before
agreeing to the trade, and that it turned out to be his insistence on
playing CF for them. If true, then wow, has he really been obsessing
over it for that long, and WTF is Ken Williams thinking?

How long before he goes on DL or the pale hose pitchers "kneecap" him
quietly under the bleachers?

Anyone else think Ozzie will be lambasting him publicly on hustle or
lack of production within the month? Over/Under on how long before
fisticuffs?

He thought he had it bad here, how do you think the southside gang
will treat him if he doesn't produce?

I think it was Hal who came out in an article yesterday and flat out
said that Dusty was still batting KGJ in the 3 hole out of "respect"
even though he knew it was hurting the team. We all suspected that
here, but compare that with the fact that it looks like Ozzie is going
to bench his team captain (Konerko) for lack of production and to put
KGJ in. Change your opinion on Dusty any? Where do you think
KGJ hits in the WSox lineup?

I read yesterday where he wasn't insisting on the $16M option being
picked up, and actually stated he was willing to come back to the
reds next year at a "significant" discount. First off, you think it
was just sentimentality talking or was he serious, and if so, would
you want him back at any price and in what role?

Sure, I'd love to have him as a part-time outfielder at, say, $1
million per year. $8 million? Faggedaboudit! He needs desperately to
DH one third to two thirds of the time. If the Sox plan on using him
every day in CF he'll play just well enough for them to miss the
playoffs.

Since Dusty was never going to give Junior enough rest to keep him
healthy, I think this trade is good for the Reds even if neither
prospect works out. They can play Votto in some in right and
Valentine, A.Phillips, Ross or Keppinger at first, basically giving
all the part-time players some starts. If Hairtson comes back healthy
they can go back to a set lineup, if not, they were never going
anywhere anyway. Of course, if Dusty insists on playing Patterson
every day (and batting leadoff) he'll have earned his firing. (Maybe
he'd like that better than managing this crew!)

And I just read yesterday that he was willing to play 1B if they
needed him to. WTF?

Probably means the Reds never really asked him. Can't seem to
believe anything else they say or do...
