When are the Orioles going to wake up to the fact that Julio is more a
problem than a solution? He reminds me so much of Benitez. Big, strong guy
who cranks up and throws as hard as he can with no idea where the ball is
headed. Then, when he's behind in the count, he grooves one and it's
deposited into the bullpen. Walks and homers aren't exactly what you need
out of a closer. It's time to put Ryan in that role or go shopping for
somebody else. Julio would be great trade bait since so many teams seem
enamored of his type as a closer. A closer should have a decent fastball
but you also need a guy with control and at least a little finesse. Julio
hasn't shown that he's got it.

It's particularly important to have a reliable closer, since modern managers
(they all seem to come from the same herd) bring them in each and every game
that they're ahead, whether needed or not.
