So, I flick on the radio today to catch my first bit of live spring
training action--at exactly the moment that Korach is calmly
reporting, "Here in the 5th, the A's are up by 13..." Whoohoo, I love
this time of year!

Except that Chavez is sore again.

Was that the game where they tore Zito up?

Even for spring, that's always fun.

I don't expect Chavez to play this year. Which is OK because he forgot how
to hit about 4 years ago.

Eric. You know better than that. Chavez is messed up physically and
medically. He is banged up as a 3rd baseman, and no longer the player he was
and we thought he could be. He could have gone on to greener pastures for
the money, but he stayed with the A's. Not sure if that was so good for us
though. But, I can't slag Chavez too much and say he "forgot" how to hit.
It's a sad situation.

There was a time when Chavy could carry a team. Those days are far behind
us. He used to hit balls off his shoes out of the park and tomahawk balls
over his head.
He hasn't been a serious threat since the Miggy days.
