Now is the time for J.P. Ricciardi to start making trades of the high-
priced Blue Jay players who are not producing.
doc>
NO! is time Riccaiaccidi cleaned out his locker and went back to Baaston
and shoved his money ball theory to the
A's.And to dumb Goodfrey who has shadesin his eyes of an nfl team in
Toronto,it would fill the dome to capacity every home game for three
times the pop now. After rogers stole the dome from
ont tax payers.
And he has ted convinced you bet.
Clint>
He could start with Vernon Wells who is making far too much money for
what he adding to the Jays.
bd>
I don't want to be rude.this guy maybe
the only Jay to market he HF in his era.He is coveted every where in the
majors name three players who would prove to be a better 5 tool player
with
hs credentials. He has stuck with the jays
lord knows why and would command bigger bucks elsewhere
Clint> Doc
Halladay is also in that category, The Jays have gotten nowhere near
making the playoffs with these two all stars who have probably now seen
their best years. Better for the Jays to trade them now for prospects.
If they don't
then next year, 2007 will just be another repeat of the last 14 years.
Doc>
Pardon me but your taking about one of the best pitchers to hit Toronto
since
Dave Stieb and he could not hold a candle
to Lerroy boy and he like wells has stayed
with team even though could make millions more to paly elsewhere aka
boston ornew york This guy is also hf meterial. And the guy is the
nuleus of the
the team.
Cint>
In fact there are only a few players on the current Jays who could be
considered
untouchable. They would be young players with potential, but who have
not played long enough to command outlandish salaries like some of the
current veteran Jays.
doc.>
true enough
BUT!
Clint>
The untouchable would include Alex Rios, Aaron Hill (who are both
outstanding defensively and currently are the offensive leaders on the
team), Adam Lindh, Dustin McGowan, Shawn Marcum,
doc>
Yes but how long will they consider the big bucks out there.Rios and
HIll will be household names in the bb world soon if
they are not all ready.
I must say i agree with your other choices
except for lindh perhaps he is filling for
overbay But overbay is a proven talent and experience, injury will take
its toll on any team.
doc>
Cassey Janssen and Jeremy Accardo.
Both not much trade bate.
Accardo has beed dumped by so many teems altthoug he was better than
nothing
for hilly.
Janseen coukd fetch maybe a catcher who can acutalty throw a runner to
out
once in awhile most teams steal bases
at will right now,He may make a usefull
starter down the sterch for some team
or as long relief for a team trying to make
the playoffs.
The same with marcum.
Clint>
Although veteran A.J. Burnett was an expensive acquisition he has the
arm and stuff to be a successful closer. He should be retained and given
a chance in that role.
doc>
Maybe so but pichers have big egos and he is currently leading the
al in x'
last i looked and he has a penchant for
giving up the long ball not a good idea
for a closer.Agian haveing lost BJ
as closer to injury is nobodies fault
really. But ricky could have more honest
about it.not just for the sake of selling seats.
Clint>
As for all the other current Jay players, such as Glaus, Overbay,
Thomas, Stairs,
Downs, Frasor, Zaun, etc., an attempt should be made to trade them for
prospects
or they should be given their release. Let's face it, by and large, the
current team stinks and
desperate measures are needed to redress the Jays' stagnant situation
doc>
Thomas was got sort of chealpy after almost a career year last
season and
boy does that sell tickets.
Stairs has been quite surprise so far
he is a defence gem and can teach Hill
a lot but they gota stop screwing with
Hill should be the everday 2ndb.
The three above pitchers yes are expenadble but who trade for do supose
the yanks are gona give rivera for all
three.
Gluas and Overbay are keepers in my
humble opinion,where you gona find
better for less money,to many teams
have already sucombed to injury.
Then there is Zuan who can be such a
sarkplug sometimes,but can not thorw
out a runner to save his soul.
But I would like to see him stay on with
team he is one savvy catcher and would make a fine coach.
Just to add i dislike ricky as much as most
real Jay fans buts it's that a hole
goodfrey who has roger's ear wants to
become the next ted turmer bucks is the name of the game.
