Josh Towers is ailing and now ineffective. Justin Miller is just not good
enough.
Certain bull pen pitchers are being overworked particularly Speier,
Frederick and Chulk.
Lightenberg is also ailing. And for what pupose are these pitchers being
overused? The Jays are not going anywhere. The remaining contests to them
are
simply exhibition games.
That's bullshit when you hear some baseball "authority" say that it is the
tradition
for "spoiler" teams to play their most effective veterans in September, as
to do otherwise would not be fair to
the teams still contending for a playoff position.
But actually such teams should be on their own
and not dependent on another team out of contention helping them back into
the playoffs
by being a "spoiler".
If any team loses a playoff birth after the long marathon, it is its own
fault. Thus the Jays should
be looking out only for their own interests and not risking injury to its
pitching staff or not giving
its rookie call-ups a chance to play and develop in September.
