This is a high-grade specimen of the most significant baseball cards
that a collector can own. This card is also one of the most popular of
the DiMaggio cards. Considering the fragile cardboard used in the
production of the 1948 Leaf issue and the usually excessive wear the
#1 card is subjected to, the high grade of this card is all the more
impressive. This is also DiMaggio's only postwar bubble-gum card
issued during his playing days (he did not allow cards of himself to
be printed by Topps or Bowman), giving this card even greater
significance. This is a very attractive, high-grade example of one of
the key cards from the 1948 Leaf set and one of the most popular cards
of the era.
