What a horrible time for Izzy to blow his umpteenth save of the year.
An extremely important game against the 2nd place team that's breathing
down our necks.
With Rolen out with back spasms, we needed to win tonight as it'll be
difficult to win the final game of the series tomorrow with a bench
consisting of Miles, Taguchi, and Bennet (worst bench in team history?)
I suppose we can say the bench also has Marquis and Sosa, but it still
sucks to have _13_ freaking pitchers on the roster!
Izzy caves in and allows the HR, losing the game and possibly the
deciding factor in losing the division. Of course we wouldn't have
been in such a tense situation if our "ace" hadn't stunk up the joint
earlier in the game and given up 3 HR of his own! >> Stay informed about: Izzy blows yet another one! |

with Izzy now having the tie for the most blown saves in the NL, is it
time Tony decides to change something? It's funny... most teams
probably feel comfortable going into the 9th inning with a lead and
their closer coming in - when the Cards do it, i sort of expect a loss.
i'm only surprised when Izzy doesn't blow a lead, and i have to pinch
myself if he ever goes 1-2-3 in the 9th. the Cards are gonna have to
struggle to even play in October this year... >> Stay informed about: Izzy blows yet another one! |

Hmmm. Remarkable that you don't mention that Edmonds' grand slam is a
reason the Cardinals were in the game at all. Selective memory?
I have room in my killfile, and I presume Jeanne and Lance do too. I invite
them and anyone with less time on their hands than they would like to pull
the trigger. Ask yourself what this loon is worth.
Buh-buh-bye.

I mentioned the grand slam in the other thread (the one about Carpenter
being unimpressive). I pointed out Carpenter was spotted a 4-0 lead
because of the Edmonds grand slam and was unable to maintain the
generous lead (nor a 6-3 lead), so I did mention it, you moron.
[snip whines from NotACardsFan and promises to killfile people that
traumatize him]
You want me to talk about Edmonds more, I can. Edmonds is NOT a team
player. He's greedy and selfish, whining about the possibility his
contract won't be renewed. He's making waves instead of concentrating
on the games. Edmonds has a reputation as a cancer in the clubhouse,
and his comments this week give credibility to those claims.
Edmonds whined that he doesn't have enough money because he had a third
kid. He's in a contract worth over 50 million dollars, and he whines
about not having enough dough. Cry me a river. He sounds like those
players who claim they won't be able to afford shoes for their kids
because they only got $3 million instead of $5 million.
Edmonds hit a bunch of HR in July, but some of them were in McGwire
type situations in which the game was out of reach, such as those
horrible games against the White Sox when we were down by 10 runs.
Almost every Pujols HR is important, but a significant percentage of
Edmonds HRs are in blowouts. >> Stay informed about: Izzy blows yet another one! |

For 2 years I've been saying that Izzy is an adequate closer - but certainly
not a 7.5 million dollar closer. I don't think we're getting out 7.5 million
dollar's worth.

Ya, the Cardinal are great when the play teams such as the Rockie,
Pirate and the Brewer. But when they play a team with some real
players, Tiger, White Sox, and Indian, you saw what your team is made
of. I think the Cub are a better team than the Cardinal too. You cant
beat em, we swept your ass back to back and more to come.
PS, it was nice to see Albert whiff with the bags juiced, a little
shitty change up low and away, he lunged at it and loooked silly and
dazed when he didnt hit it.What happened to that plate discipline?
IZZZZZY, what can I say, just watch him and weep.

The Cubs have been swept by the Tigers, Indians, Twins, Padres,
Marlins, and Braves. I'm pretty sure you don't think the Cubs are a
better team than the Cards this year, seeing as how you're 13 games
behind us, playing mostly the same teams.
I've said it before, and i'll say it again: I really feel bad for Cubs
fans when they talk about how bad the Cards are, and how they swept
us... THAT'S all they have. Yes, the Cubs have swept the Cards
multiple times this season, so you'd think with that many wins while
the Cards are losing, you'd be closer than 13 games behind with a 48-65
record.
Cubs fans, keep talking about how "bad" the Cardinals are. It's ok, we
understand that's all you have to cheer about, and we're not mad. Keep
talking about how "bad" Pujols is, and how he strikes out (which is one
of the lowest strike out victims in MLB) with the bases loaded, we know
how good he is. Keep talking about all the same things you've talked
about all season... we all feel bad for you. >> Stay informed about: Izzy blows yet another one! |

Prior to last night's game, Isringhausen had not allowed a run since
July 1 against Kansas City. Read that again -- in over a month, his
ERA was 0.00 covering 14 innings pitched. In the month of July, his
ERA was 0.69 and his WHIP was 0.77.
I don't recall hearing from you about Isringhausen during that time,
David. Did I miss something?

Two words: Armando Benetiz
Giants fans have it worse, getting all the Cardinals cast offs (Morris,
Matheny...) >> Stay informed about: Izzy blows yet another one! |
