Well, they sure didn't do too good on their last road trip - two losses
at Pittsburgh, two losses at Philadelphia, and three losses in New York.
That was
an important road trip and they failed miserably. I would say this team is
on
life support but with them sweeping Washington before the trip and getting
two out of three against the Sox, plus the fact that the other teams in the
Central
have not run away with it YET, the Cubs are still in it.

So, the next six games against San Diego and L.A. are important.
Hopefully
they can come out of it looking good. After that it's three at home against
Florida
and three against Atlanta. Then it's off to Milwaukee. Hopefully they can
get in a
good position when they take on Milwaukee. Twelve games to get ready for
Milwaukee.

Now is the time this team needs to go on a winning streak. The do seem
to be
scoring more. Will the high scoring offence be making the trip out west? I
hope
so.

Oh, and it was great and a shock to see Steve Stone back on WGN. That's
something I didn't think I would see again. He looked good and sounded like
his
old self - the best color commentator in the world. You could tell he wants
back
in the booth, right where he belongs. Maybe new ownership will put Stone
back
in the booth? New ownership would start off on the right foot if they
dumped
the two TV announcers and put Stone in the booth with some other play by
play
announcer.

No team is on life support in the middle of May! I figured this team would
hover around .500 for the first few months and then kick it in. Zambrano
still has to get into a groove. And the bullpen needs to improve. They
have the arms out there who have been effective in the past.

The Brewers have a good team but I don't think they are going to run away
and win 95+ games this year. They have struggled against good teams the
past 2 weeks.

All my life. What does that have to do with anything?

The 2003 Cubs were not doing much this time of year either. Were they on
life support. What about the Astros of a few years back?

This team could hover around .500 until AS break and still have a good
chance if things start clicking.
