So, here's a serious question from someone who is not a 'fan' of baseball
but does follow things off and on throughout the season ... you say that
Denver is not a baseball town (I'd probably agree), but how do you define a
'baseball town'? Not that the folks here want to change anything to get on
the 'list'!! Smile

And, I think it's hard to do for a baseball place like Denver, where the
fans come to see a game from like 500+ miles away. It's hard to get the
same intensity that you see in Boston.

I'll tell you how you can start...attract more than 25,000 fans for a home
game in the middle of September during a playoff run in which you are
playing baseball at an all-time pace.

Look, I am sure the fans of the Rockies like their team enough...I am
simply saying that the Rockies have recently seen a spike...you know what?
Forget it. I'm bored with this...

Sorry, I was hoping for a better response than 'get more folks to the ball
park' ... should I have offended your family? Said that it's stupid to eat
clams? ... Sorry, we don't do that here ... but thanks for trying to
respond.

I don't know...but isn't filling the park during a pennant race reasonably
fundamental to being good fans? I guess you people really are different in
how you support your team. But thanks for droppin' in.

Yep, I suppose so, but, hunting season just cranked up, and A-basin (a ski
area) just opened up, and fishing is really good here in the fall, and you
need to be driving around the high country to see the aspen changing ... So,
maybe I'm seeing your point ... if you're a baseball town you ignore all
this other stuff and just go to the ball park ... thanks, but no ... so,
maybe you're right ... but we don't care

You might find this really hard to believe Bob, but there are a few other
things to do in Boston besides taking in a ballgame too. Those get put on
hold when you have a chance to see the Sox play. You can do those things
another time. For one thing it's a tough ticket. This is why it's not such
a good idea to build these enormous ballparks that you can't fill.
Whatever. You folks will never understand the insanity and fun of being a
true diehard, lunatic Red Sox fan. This whole town becomes obsessed with
it. It's pretty friggin' neat.

It's because I'm a normal human being that I can only take so much of your
condescending, self important, pompous bullshit. Run along now to your
superior *Rocky Mountain High*. You must have so many more pleasurable
things to amuse yourself with than trolling this newsgroup of the Boston Red
Sox.

So your argument is that we have no lives...but you are sitting here on
Usenet, talking about baseball, just like the rest of us?

As long as you feel better about yourself I guess...

The argument is always the same...we have lives, we have other things going
on, blah blah blah. Like their town is the only town that has things going
on.

I've lived in a lot of different places. I would dare say over half of the
North American population lives roughly the same script. Wake up, go to
work, come home, eat dinner, an activity of some sort (probably related to
the kids somehow), TV, go to bed.

But yeah...nothing going on in Boston but the Sox. No Pats, Celts, BC
Eagles, Bruins, hockey, running, hunting, fishing, skiing, canoeing,
theatre, concerts, restaurants, or anything else...

Just Denver. (And Philly...which has a lot...a lot of culture lol)

Well, duh, if I could cut and paste and choose what I wanted to reply to ...
I meant to include:

> But other than that...bang on. And it still doesn't change the fact that
> Denver isn't a baseball town. Its a football town, and a pretty good

So the response was to the comment about being a baseball town ... excuse me
while I go get another Limoncello ...
