Why? Because of the risk of "you want him? Congratulations!" If
there's
a claim put in. (Also known as the Randy Myers rule of waiver claims)

Ohman seems to be the only other one tradeable. I think Bobby has been
running Royce ring out there in the hope he could make himself tradeable
too, but he's done quite the opposite.
Hampton might be tradeable in August, if he shows any ability to pitch.
I assume he'll clear waivers and thus will be tradeable until Aug 31.

I forgot about Kotsay. He is hitting .290 with good defense, albeit an
empty .290. Should be useful to somebody.

Exactly. If someone wants to pick up his last few million in salary, let
'em.

Best case scenario is Hampton pitches himself into tradability. I
wouldn't bet on that. I too had missed Kotsay as an obvious spare
part. Not sure he'd bring anything worthwhile in return though and
the Braves don't seem to be in "trade for low-A pitchers" mode yet
(ignoring whether or not they should be.) To the fella's suggestion
that they trade Francoeur I'd say no. His value is rock-bottom low.
Hold onto him until he regains some value at least. He's cheap.

What's the contract status for Mike Gonzalez?

FA at the end of the year. He and Ohman are talked about a bit. Not
sure either would return much.

Not unless he was Super-Two and that plays havoc with his service time/
arb clock and I see nothing in his career to suggest that's the case.
He started the year with just over 4 years of service time. He'll end
it with +/- 5. He's been through arb twice, once in 07 and once in
08. He should have another arb year in 09, then go FA.
Will Ohman is FA at the end of this year.
Rafeal Soriano is under contract through 2009 (makes 6.1 mil in 2009.)
