The bullpen is alright - the struggles are most likely a result of
overuse. Until the starters start making it to the 7th inning on a
regular basis, the pitching on this team is going to struggle. And
Torre doesn't help things by juggling the 5th starter spot - it just
guarantees one game out of 5 that the starter has NO chance of going 7.
As far as the coaching goes, the point doesn't seem to be getting across
about throwing strikes - if Honeycutt can't get the starters to
listen and/or find and correct the flaws in their mechanics, it's time
to find someone who can.
Seriously, though, did anyone expect different of a starting staff
that's 60-80% (depending on whether Loaiza is the #5 guy) the same as
what ended last year?
