He's had a great series vs the O's (unlike the rest of the team, sadly) and
almost single-handedly rescued Jays from a 4-game sweep. His average's
picking up, around .250 now and good to see him pop a few more HRs.
This was definitely one of the biggest wins of the season for Toronto, they
needed to stop the slide by whatever means needed.

OOTH, Hargrove must be super-pissed right now. Wells was clearly out Smile

Package Shannon Stewart, Josh Phelps, Tom Wilson and a couple of prospects
to get the Bluejays some pitching......sweeten the pot if necessary. Either
they improve the rotation or give up on this post-season. Or should fans
settle for an improved win-loss record?

Forget Mora, how about that Matos guy?!?! Is that guy something or what? He
was REAL close on a couple of HRs in the past couple days (I think both times
on Hinske too, ironically)

Yeah I hope this win and a day off helps them regroup cause it's not gonna get
any easier this week. Good thing Halladay is starting tuesday Smile

I'm with you on Stewart and Wilson, but I wouldn't give up on Phelps yet...
the guy was amazing last year and I think dumping him now would be to give up
on him way too early. He's been playing decent and you gotta remember he had
only 3 or 4 ABs during the interleague play so it's almost as if he was on the
DL during the time. I don't blame him for not being to get in a groove.
Tosca just has to show some goddamn faith in him.

IMHO, bottom line is Stewart should be traded because we all know he won't be
offered the kind of money he wants by the Jays. Johnson keeps playing well
(sure, maybe not as well as Stew but he's a rookie after all) and could make
things much easier on the Jays if #24 goes. If it comes down to trading
Escobar or Stewart, Shannon is an obvious choice. We've all seen that what
we need more of is decent pitching, hitting will take care of itself.

I would much sooner seen some real relievers than rotation help. Our
starting pitching is not good but when compared to our pen its not the
problem.

Larry Roberts 's $0.02 worth:

In order to get something of value, you would have to trade something of
value. Remember that this time of year, you traditionally see trades along
the lines of something for prospects.

It all depends on whether T-dot is buying or selling this year. I doubt that
they will get the kind of quality pitcher without trading prospects to do
so. There are some excellent prospects in the system that certainly appeal
to many other teams. I would prefer to keep them.

If we are selling, You'll probably find Stewart and Lidle being traded. It
would be silly to trade Tom Wilson and Phelps as they offer cheap production.

Yeah, Phelps would replace Delgado in 2005.
This is Phelps second season I'm pretty sure he will get out of his slump
sooner or later.
You just can't give them the moon for an over 30's reliever.
