How in the hell does he let Mr. Big BA Greene stare at called strike 3
in the bottom of the 12th, game tied with the leading run on first
base.
Bunt him over ya MORON. We don't need a rallie, we just need a run.
Pads wheels are so flat they need 2 hits (non-homers) to score anyone
on this
squad from first. With our bats the odds in that is slim and none.
BUNT!

In this series Khalil has 2 Homers, a double and 3 RBIs in this
series, and would've had another homer last night, except
for J. Hairston's great catch over the fence in left-center. >> Stay informed about: Hey Buddie, You're Fired |

The original poster was referring to a lack of strategy in situational
hitting. >> Stay informed about: Hey Buddie, You're Fired |

I'm well aware of that, but respectfully disagree on the strategy.
In the 18th inning winning rally, Scott Hairston advanced by stealing
2nd base, and eventually scored thanks to a home run by A. Gonzales,
not because of a bunt. >> Stay informed about: Hey Buddie, You're Fired |

Am I correct in assuming that you believe the Padres' strategy in
general maximizes run output? >> Stay informed about: Hey Buddie, You're Fired |

Not real surprising you don't want to address today's game, which
the team won by scoring 12 runs, hitting 4 homers, and capped
by a 3-run walkoff.
Try reading a book written by Hall of Fame manager Earl Weaver
called, " Weaver on Strategy ". He can acquaint you with how
good managers actually work during games. >> Stay informed about: Hey Buddie, You're Fired |

I tuned out for awhile but did come back to the game in time to hear
the annoucer
say a leadoff double was stranded at 2nd base.
Now WTF happenned there?

and the game in question might have ended in 12 instead of 18 innings
if
Buddie had half a brain. I'm curious what that book says about
changing strategy late in the game when 1 run will win.

If Khalil had bunted the runner over there, they would have
intentionally walked Edgar Gonzalez. As it played out, they
unintentionally walked him, so a sacrifice would have just been a
different path to get to the same place. >> Stay informed about: Hey Buddie, You're Fired |

Why, with only 1 out, would they not go after Edgar?
And maybe with a runner in scoring position and first open,
Edgar might have looked to hit the ball over taking a walk.
Him taking a walk advances the runner in one scenario,
in another it accomplishes nothing and is even a negative.
and would someone please explain how they srand a leadoff
double at second later?
