For now, anyway, Ruan has a use. He's the defensive replacement for
Rickey. Also, there's a small chance that watching and listening to
Rickey will convince Ruan to be more selective at the plate, making
him a not bad guy to have on a roster under normal circumstances. So
I guess I'm saying that as much as I dislike Ruan's chances, I want
him on the roster for now. That may change when Roberts comes back.
Barnes is 4 for his last 10. Of course, they were weak singles, and
he's 4-20 overall with zero walks. And has virtually no defensive
value. And is slow, so he's not a pinchrunner type. But he saved his
big league career, at least until McGriff comes off of the dl, with
those weak singles.
Sadly, unless he showed power, Barnes pretty much would have to hit
..400 to have any value.

Yeah. The Tigers have to be upset. Tommy Farmer isn't great shakes,
I doubt if he'll have much if any major league impact, but he did make
the Southern League All Star game, and is young enough to maybe pick
up his k rate.
I expect Frasor to pitch in the majors next season at some point.
Either he'll be added to the Dodgers' 40 man roster, be traded to a
team that will add him to their 40 man, or he will be a rule 5 pick.
AA relievers with high k rates and good control are too tempting for a
team with a weak bullpen to pass up on for $50k. With the Dodgers he
would fill the Steve Colyer role.
