Oh, wait, no. He pitched two brilliant innings. Bravo, Aaron!

Was a great game. Congrats to Oliver on his superb 7 inning game.

Mary, for a minute there I thought you had joined
the other crazies on this board who want to kill people
over a hobby.
Thank God you you haven't.

That was pretty funny. <g>

In regard to leaving the pitcher in, they seem to be going from one
extreme to another. Or maybe the bullpen finally made their
impression.

For some reason, I really feel for Aaron. I was almost in tears the
other night when he blew the save. I just kept thinking how awful he
must feel. I hope he can keep pitching well.

Mary, I feel the same way, apparently he is a really
good guy,and you can tell that iot really effects him
when he doesn't perform well.

I think a lot of people here forget that these guys are
human, and it makes them fell a lot worse than it makes
us freel when they fail. It's their career on the line ,it's
only our pastime

Somebody, probably Howie Rose on WFAN, said something the other night,
maybe Friday, that sort of sruck me, the first part being that Heilman
always takes his job very seriously, these losses do weigh on him, and
he's always trying to fine-tune performances to see what works with
different batters. The other thing that he said was that the fans have
had their say, the media has had its say, but in the end, the people
with the biggest say on Heilman are the people wearing Mets uniforms,
and he said that as far as he (Rose) could tell, Heilman had the
absolute support and confidence of his teammates.

That's very nice. But excuse us fans to be a little skeptical when
he's pitching 5.43 ERA through 61 games.

Well I now know that his teammates must not be the sharpest tools in
the shed. Does anyone know the average IQ of those in Mets uniform?
To say you have "confidence" in Heilman is like saying you have
confidence in Doug Sisk or Marv Thronberry. If the Mets don’t make
the playoffs this year I believe you can single handily blame it on
Heilman. Never in all my years of watching the Mets (now more than 40
years) do I recall a player that I had lesser confidence in when the
game is on the line. It is simply unbelievable that the Mets continue
put him out there when the game is on the line. And for those who say
"well - who do you use" - my answer is that management had all season
to get someone in a trade and they did not. I honestly believe you
could take any single A pitcher from the Savanna Gnat Mets and you are
looking at an improvement

Ok, his era is in the 5's, but if the fans boo him, will it go down,
because booing makes you pitch better? He always wanted to be a starter,
and they converted him to reliever. I don't know about anybody here, but
I do better at things I enjoy doing. Jeff Kent moved from 2nd to third
for the good of the team. As soon as he made a few errors, he was just
about run out of town by the "fans". Nobody said, (well, I did) "hey,
how many players are willing to switch posistions for the good of the
team, and deserve a pat on the back?" Bash Heilmann all you want, but as
they say, it is what it is. The entire bullpen has stunk, so let's just
pick on Heilman, like people did with Kent, Jefferies, and the most
silly one of all, Johan Santana. He isn't worth the money. Blah, blah,
blah. This guy should have 15 wins, be the leading canidate for the Cy
Young award. Let's start booing him, and see how fast he wants out of
New York. Even though he has only 9 wins, this is one trade I give the
overrated Minaya cedit for. Give him some run, and bullpen support, and
he'll be one of the 3 most important Mets. Wright, and Reyes being the
other two.

Go down is right... go down to the AAA.

So he doesn't have motivation to be a good reliever, yeah, that's
someone I want as my setup man.

Scary thing is Heilman led the pack with 2-7 and 5+ ERA.

Stop defending him, he's beyond defending. If he pitches badly
because of a few boos he's not a major league pitcher

At 2-7 and 5+ ERA I trust a AA pitcher more than Heilman. This
mentality that "he'll pitch out of it" is hogwash.
