Had a big problem with heavy handed security guards inside B.O.B. last
night. Anyone else that has gone to a game had a problem. Let's discuss it.

What kind of a big problem?

I've never had the slightest problem with security there.

Well, they got a 'complaint' because I said son of a bi*** to my brother in
law seated next to me after the three runs were scored while RJ was
picthing, prior to that when the first run was scored after and error, I
turned to him and said sh** and da**. None of these words were yelled nor
did I stand up and make any foul gestures, just some people two rows ahead
of me overheard a comment to the people that I was sitting with. I have
heard and seen over the TV broadcast many, many time when a player comes
back to the dugout and does not like their at bat, they slam their bat and
helmet in to the rack and while on camera and with the mike live drop the F
word for all of us to see and hear in our own living rooms. Took 3 security
goons and 2 SO deps to pull me out of my seat to 'warn' me that I was using
every type of profanity in the book. When I disagreed with their take on the
situation and took exception to being told things that weren't true, I was
told, "We don't care what happenned or if it was true, we got a complaint
and we're going to take action." Of course it went on from there without
hearing my side of the story, they were bound and determined to treat me
like some thug, rather than a paying customer. They complain about lack of
fan support or enthusiasm by the fans, but when the fans get passionate, the
first that happens is security telling them to quiet down. I have seen this
happen on other occassions when they fans are cheering for the team or
heckling against the opposing team, even with 'clean' language.

At that point, you find the person who ratted you out and
have your companion report him for giving you the finger.

I've heard vague reports about people being warned for being too
passionate, but yours is the first first-hand account I've heard.
However, your crime wasn't passion, it was profanity, and that's clearly
proscribed behavior, as it states on the back of your ticket. I don't
doubt that if you were as well-behaved as you say, that the security folks
overreacted, and perhaps the sherrif's deputies were just getting their
jollies rousting a "troublemaker."

If you haven't omitted any important details (such as you were drunk),
then you should complain to the team about the incident. However, if you
expect the team to moderate its policies, you need to state clearly to
them that you realize your language was inappropriate and you have no
excuse for it, but that you think that having them send 5 security
personnel to pull you from your seat was a more than moderate
overreaction, considering the circumstances.

My boss went to a game a month and a half ago (in the company suite), and
some drunks in the next suite were so foul-mouthed that he thought about
complaining, but didn't. A BOB usher standing not ten feet away could
clearly hear the profanities coming from the obnoxious drunks, but didn't
say a thing to security or the drunks in the suite.

I guess it depends on where you're sitting when you swear.

Nope, wasn't drunk none of the four of us were (two husbands and wives), had
actually just sat down with my first beer when it occurred. As I said saying
three profane words to my brother in law at a normal conversation level was
not the crime of the century. If the folks in front of me would have had the
thought process to turn around and ask me to watch my volume and language, I
would have done so. I agree with the family ballpark and lack of the profane
language, but I took great exception to the tactics and attitude displayed
by security. Remember one of them said to me that they didn't care what
happenned or if it was true, they were going to take action. Because I
questioned that at the time, I was almost ejected from the ballpark for the
evening because of my 'bad attitude'. I do plan on a letter to the
organization, to key individuals.
