Javy is useless from the right side, and i dont think he has much if
any value as a 3rd catcher. Now he's the backup 1stbaseman at least
till Kep gets back. Hatt isnt going to hit .170 all year, and I dont
read too much into his career PH numbers. I'm not sure how much he's
been used in that role but I'm betting its not much giving his career
avg. he hit very well last year, has as much power as Javy and works
walks to boot.
Its not cut-and-dry choice but I have to think that Hat is more
valuble to this teams chances than Javy. But somehow Javy get hung
with the reputation for being a good PH.
A few days ago, Marty made a remark that he cant believe theres no
interest in Hat. The dynamics of the player market seem to change all
the team. there arent many buyers right now. Maybe some team will
suffer a key 1b/dh injury in the next few days and the Reds can get
something for Hat. Otherwise, I believe he will just end up becoming a
FA.
