Ugh! He is hurling like pre spring training. Put in some of the fans!
Seriously, he should trade roles with Reitsma. Let Chris start every 5th
day and give Hampton middle relief. Please tell me his contract is over
this year (Hampton, not Reitsma). This guy is stinking out the joint.

President - Hampton Haters Club.

I suppose it won't make you feel better to know that Hampton is under
contract for 4 more years after this one, the last three at $15M each?

seriously, if he doesn't come around soon, there are going to be some hard
questions about years 4-6 on that contract. it will be, by far, the worst
contract the team has.

i still believe hampton is going to be a better-than-average pitcher, but i'm
running out of patience.

I'm glad some folks are finally coming around tho the truth. It's quite
good to see.

I don't think he pitched as poorly as the score would indicate yesterday. A
couple of wind-aided homers in the first and some really poor defense didn't
help matters. Having said that, he isn't pitching well. OTOH, It's still
early enough in the year that guys like Zito, Ponson, Mussina, and Maddux
all have ERAs over 5. I'm not giving up on him yet.

He is the victim of wind-aided homers.

"Yeah, that's the ticket!" $1 to John Lovitz

It reminds me a bit of Steve Avery's transition. He's not getting on top of
the ball. His arm is dragging behind his momentum and consequently he's lost
the little bit of movement he had on his pitches. Hampton is a borderline
pitcher who needs both some zip and good location to succeed. Without it,
he's just serving up good batting practice. Maybe some work with Leo can
make the adjustment, but there's also the confidence factor that Hampton
seemed to indicate effected his ability in Colorado and NY.
