Did all of you read that Guzman's way ahead of schedule and may be back by
the middle of the month?

Good news. I heard Charlie Slowes mention that Guz has been taking
batting practice. I'll look for him tonight.

I remember there being discussion of this at the time of his injury, but
they were "treating it" as a season-ender.

It would be great to see if he can come back and hit at that same level.

Are you sure? Because I remember that it was that he was out for the rest
of the year definitely fairly quickly after he left the game.

Anyone know what his batting average over the past two years is (ie from
September 1, 2005)? I remember he had to go on a tear to get above the
Mendoza line, and the way he was hitting this year, kind of disappointing
that we didn't get a full shake of his abilities for the contract.

He had surgery to repair torn tedons in his hand/thumb. Unlike Johnson,
Patterson, and Escobar, he seems to be a fast healer and has been taking
bp. He plans on taking fielding drills later this week. He still has
one year remaining on his contract.

After his first season here, and then the year off, I was shocked that he
played as well as he did this season. I hope in his last year we can
finally get to see the Guzman that Bowden dreamed of when he gave him the
big contract. I just wonder if his tank has been damaged by all the
injuries over the past 23 months.

*The TV guys were definitely talking about that, right after he was declared
"out for the year".
