He knows he doesnt have the speed to stretch a single in to a double . Not
at his age!

how about telling him to hit line drives instead of fly balls ! He has
definitely lost some power in his swing this year - If he hits it to center
field - it is an out. He doens't have the power to hit it over the center
field wall anymore from what I've seen so far this year.

Again I state, bring up Bruce and play him full time in center field.
Platoon Griffey with Patterson, Freel, and Hopper. This is pure common
sense - how come the Reds don't have a clue ?
Griffey needs to start playing within himself. He knows what he can do and
what he can't. If he's going to continue to play - he needs to play to his
strengths.
Start bunting, punching down the left side for singles. Hit line drives for
singles - forget the homer. Platoon or rest every third day. These steps
would give the Reds a better, stronger, and flexible team.
This scenerio of course will never happen as this club has no common
baseball sense.
After watching this game (Wednesday nite), looks like the Reds need to bring
up a whole new team ! John

My guess is there is no team even remotely interested in Griffey. From what
we've seen so far - he should retire at the end of this year on his own
accord to save face.

How many times have we've seen players ahead of him get hits, get on base,
and he then he can't anything that same pitcher is throwing. He has
definitely lost MLB status. Going out like this is a baseball players worst
nightmare. John
