I heard an interview with Griffey this morning and he was saying he
could still pllay CF because it was easier than LF or RF. When I
played ball eons ago in Little and Pony league I was always told that
SS and CF were the two hardest postions to play and you always put
your best athletes there. I still think that is true. Griffey is 38.
Nick Swisher is 28. Who do you think might be the better suited for
CF?
And how do split time between Swisher and Griffey? Play Griffey when
there's a RH pitcher and Swisher (who is a switch hitter) when there
is a LH pitcher? Or vice versa? Or move Swisher to 1st, like some of
the reports are saying, and bench Paul Kornerko (who bats right
handed) who is 32 and has a .179 BA in his last 10 games and is .214
BA and 9 HR for the season? The most obvious move does seem to be to
move Swisher to 1B and play Griffey in CF, but one has to wonder if
Griffey is durable enough to make it there the rest of the season and
still be usuable in the playoffs.
Riskey trade I believe but the White Sox didn't give up much. Like
they say, you get what you pay for.
